We all know about the many benefits of breast milk.<\/p>\n
It strengthens baby\u2019s immune system, it provides optimal nutrition……..<\/p>\n
But did you know that breastfeeding your child also has a positive impact on your their growing face, jaws and teeth?<\/p>\n
Studies show that breastfeeding helps to develop the muscles of the face and tongue and assists in establishing a nasal breathing pattern, all of which are essential for ideal facial and jaw development.<\/p>\n
Most growth of the face and jaws takes place in the first 4 years of life and it is the early feeding habits that dictate this pattern.<\/p>\n
Researchers believe that it is the shape of the breast tissue and the way babies hold it between the roof of their mouth, cheeks and tongue that strengthens the face and tongue muscles and prepares them for speech and chewing.<\/p>\n
Also the action of the tongue and jaw muscles during feeding help to develop the face.<\/p>\n
Pretty cool hey.<\/p>\n
As mothers we are given SO MUCH information about the power of breast milk, we often don\u2019t get told about the benefits of breast feeding on our babies\u2019 faces and jaws \u2013 information we all should be know about.<\/p>\n
