HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED IN 80 YEARS TIME?

By September 10, 2018 No Comments

I was interviewed for an article a few weeks ago and I was asked,

“Carla, in 80 years time, with all this thumb sucking clinic stuff you’re doing, what would you like to be remembered for?”

It was really confronting.

I’ve never really thought about it to be honest.

I mean…..

Why does anyone go down a path where they are criticised by people in their own profession for trying to help patients….

For doing things differently…..

For challenging the norm……

For asking more of our professional training…..

For asking more of our abilities and skills to look after our patients….

It certainly comes from a passion, otherwise why would you bother?

So I replied……

” I hope that people will remember me as someone who helped people. The kids. The parents…….families…

Someone who helped other clinicians and professionals help others.

I want to be remembered as someone who helped.

That’s all.”

And I’ve been reflecting on it for the last few weeks….

And it still resonates with me.

Helping people is my passion.

And in 80 years, I would be honoured if people remember me as someone who helped people…….

Fingers crossed.

What do you want to be remembered for in 80 years, I’d love to know. Carla x
