Course objectives:

To fully understand the anatomical and physiological features of the newborn oral cavity and cranium
To be able to adequately identify tongue and lip tie in babies and children
To understand and screen oral development in relation to feeding and speech
To be able to identify specific developmental milestones and changes associated with the oral cavity throughout the ages of 0-4 years
Feel confident in examining babies and children from the ages of 0 -4 years old
Be competent at the oral examination of the infant child
Understand the elements that contribute to healthy growth and development in newborns to age 4 years
Understand its multifactorial etiology and impact on oral and facial development
Be able to confidently screen babies and children under 4 years for oral development
Confidently refer to other health practitioners
Understand and be able to implement the theoretical and practical foundations into practice protocols and procedures
To be able to confidently implement oral examinations in your own practice
Have all the tools, skills and support to begin practicing right away
